BIO
Sam K MacKinnon is a writer living in Winnipeg. Their writing explores queer trans identity and has been published in numerous outlets, including Prairie Fire, Catapult, them, FLARE, Xtra, CBC, and others. An excerpt from their novel in progress was shortlisted for the 2022 John Hirsch Emerging Manitoba Writer Award. They have been awarded grants for their fiction writing from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Manitoba Arts Council, and the Winnipeg Arts Council. They have held positions in the publishing industry at Penguin Random House Canada and Great Plains Publications. They hold a bachelor of arts in psychology and family social sciences.
